Are Company Holiday Festivities Coming to an End?

Holiday parties are one of the most exciting times of the year for remote and onsite employees alike to get to know each other on a deeper level to promote a stronger team. Some companies spend exorbitant amounts on these parties by renting out entire ballrooms and hosting extravagant dinners. However, with inflation and interest rates on the rise and some companies still recovering from revenue loss post-pandemic, fiscally responsible leaders have to think differently about spending so much on a single event.

Now, organizations are looking to host more intimate gatherings in office. 32% of 200 companies surveyed from Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. note that they'll use their office space for the events compared to 28% last year, and 58% of employers are planning to host holiday gatherings during the workday, up from 48% last year.1

WellSpan Receives a Significant Donation to Launch a New Nursing Innovation Center

WellSpan Health received a $1.5 million donation from philanthropists Jeanne and Ed Arnold to open a new nursing innovation center. The proposed name, Jeanne Donlevy Arnold Center for Nursing Innovation, honors their former "team member and community leader Jeanne Donlevy Arnold."

WellSpan looks to address the issues of the aging/understaffed nursing workforce by researching and implementing ways to give time back to nurses. The new nursing innovation center plans to have three key focuses:

  • Professional development and recognition with mentorships and coaching
  • Innovation and research involving academic partnerships and research fellowships
  • Clinical practice, which will include evidence-based practice to improve patient care, as well as advanced delivery models of care.2

With COVID on the rise once again and hospital admissions increasing by 3% according to the CDC, be careful as you spend time with your loved ones this holiday season. "Weekly COVID-19 hospitalizations rose to 23,432...up from 22,730 the previous week"3, so make sure you're frequently washing your hands and covering your nose and mouth to cough or sneeze.
