As February comes to an end, we're reflecting on another exciting and productive month at Pycube! From celebrating Black History Month to expanding our solutions and hosting an insightful webinar, this month has been full of positive developments. Let's take a look at some of the highlights!

Honoring Black Leaders in Healthcare

Throughout February, we dedicated our social media platforms to honoring Black pioneers in healthcare. Our Black History Month campaign highlighted the remarkable contributions of:

  • James McCune Smith – In 1837, James became the first African American in the U.S. to earn a medical degree. Beyond his work as a physician, he was also the owner of the country's first Black-owned pharmacy, helping to expand access to healthcare and inspire future generations.1
  • Rebecca Lee Crumpler—In 1864, Rebecca became the first African American woman in the U.S. to earn a medical degree. After earning her degree, she moved to Richmond, where she provided medical care for formerly enslaved individuals. As a woman in her field, she faced many challenges, but she still found the experience to be life-changing and returned home ready to serve her community.1
  • Daniel Hale Williams – A visionary who founded the first interracial hospital and nursing school in 1891, Provident Hospital and Training School for Nurses, ensuring Black and white medical professionals could train and work together. In 1893, he made history by performing the world's first successful open-heart surgery, solidifying his place in medical innovation.2
  • Marilyn Hughes Gaston—Inspired to become a doctor at just 9 years old after her mother's health scare, Dr. Gaston dedicated her career to improving healthcare for underserved communities. Her groundbreaking research on sickle cell disease led to the development of a national newborn screening program, significantly advancing treatment and early intervention.3
  • Griffin P. Rodgers – As Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Dr. Rodgers has made significant contributions to medical research, including developing the first FDA-approved therapy for sickle cell anemia. His leadership continues to drive advancements in treatments for blood disorders and chronic illnesses.4

These innovators paved the way for advancements that continue to shape modern medicine. Their work reminds us of the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and progress in healthcare.

Expanding Our Impact with New Installations

This month, we successfully expanded our solutions technology by implementing multiple exit and interior antennas at our customer's facility. These latest additions enhance the hospital's ability to track critical assets, minimize loss, and streamline operations with greater accuracy.

Each new installation represents a step forward in digitizing their workflows, ensuring equipment is precisely where it's needed, when it's needed. As we continue to expand, Pycube remains committed to providing innovative asset-tracking solutions that drive efficiency and support better patient care.

Webinar Recap: Building the Connected Hospital

One of the biggest highlights this month was our webinar in collaboration with AVIA, featuring our CEO, Srikar (Sam) Yeruva, and advisor, Brett McClung. The discussion, Building the Connected Hospital: Bridging Operational Gaps Through Technology, brought together industry leaders to explore how RFID, AI, EMR, and ERP systems are transforming healthcare operations.

The panel of experts—including Srikar Yeruva (top right), Brett McClung (bottom), and Sonia Singh (top left)—shared key insights on:

  • How technology is optimizing clinical workflows and supply chain management.
  • The future of AI in healthcare and its role in driving operational excellence.
  • The importance of strategic leadership in digital transformation.
